Lietuvos psichikos sveikatos paslaugu vartotoju draugija

(Lithuanian Fellowship of Mental Health Care Users)

Registered in April 17, 2002. Members of the organization represent mainly local self-help organizations from all Lithuania.

According to our statutes the general member-meeting elects the council. The council elects its chair and deputies. In 2002 the council has 24 members representing the main regions of Lithuania. Chair of the council in 2002 is Saulius Peciulis.

Members can be users, professionals and others, who agree with the main goals of the organization, connected with representation of users' interests in mental health system. But in the council of the organization must be elected no less than 50% users. So leadership of organization always will belong to users themselves.

We are on the beginning of our way, but already introduced four programmes to Lithuanian Disability Council expressing interests of mentally disabled persons from all Lithuania. In summer 2002 we are going to participate in organizing National sport and music festival of mentally disabled persons and we organize a summer meeting-seminar for our organization members.

We co-operate with other organizations engaged in mental health care problems in Lithuania, including Regional Office in Vilnius of Geneva Initiative on Psychiatry.
